The Italian highway code states that "on each of the vertical edges of the box must be affixed reflective film panels with red and white stripes, for a total area useful for dumpster, not less than 3,200 cm2however divisible (Fig. II.479 / a).

In urban areas, where high volumes of traffic and sources of light disturbance or high level of ambient light coexist, the reflective films must normally be in class 2referred to in Article 79, paragraph 10 ".
